regarding mountaineering clubs, we don't have yet a list of mountaineering clubs because they've become too many to mention. the only thing we have is the list of club websites. we cannot put your club name unless we have your website URL.

xtian, if you notice i dont follow the regions to the hilt. there's only one "mountain region" for the visayas and two for mindanao.

First and foremost, in behalf of the Northern Mindanao Mountaineering Society (NORMMS) Ecological Foundation, Inc., I am thanking GOD for the safe National Congress and Climb and to your active and voluntary participation.
As we all know, Mt. Kitanglad Range is a protected area, hence, we are very fortunate to have visited said mountain considering that our number far exceeds the standard limit of climbers set by the Protected Area Monitoring Board (PAMB).
Secondly, we are very glad to have served climbers passing through three (3) different routes, notwithstanding the remaining outdoorsmen who remained in the Base Camp attending in the Basic Mountaineering Course and some others who stayed exploring the beauty of Center for Ecological Development and Recreation (CEDAR) in Impalutao, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.
To date, we are clearing the minutest waste and trail signs left unintentionally and finalizing the report on the status of the remaining forest cover of Mt. Kitanglad which we promised to submit to the DENR.
Needless to mention, we enjoyed the climb as much as you do, but to us Mt. Kitanglad is not only our playground but also a great factor to our lives here in Mindanao both present and future.
Hosting a national congress and climb is a difficult task and challenge but you made it easy for us. Although the presidents’ meeting had been adjourned unexpectedly, the same was ended to preserve peace and harmony. What is clear though is that the majority wanted to create a national mountaineering federation which should reflect the common objective of mountaineering organizations.
Lastly, as members of endangered species and special class of men and women, let me end by saying that we should be united. We may disagree but please we should refrain from being disagreeable. As the saying goes, “We should not be so concerned with our rights to the extent that we will forget our manners”.

Flash News: Kitanglad Ambush
There was an ambush yesterday at 3km further Intavas. Its not in the news wire yet but this was communicated to us by our local source. Glad that its not climbing season but surely it will affect forthcoming climbs due to increased security climbing/trekking the Kitanglad range mountains.

Sir Gideon, u'r almost a legend for me in Philippine Climbing. Your expeditions are so cool. Im an avid fan of this site. BTW, we just finished climbing Pico de loro and it was my first time to climb a mt. After we climb, i fell inlove with the environment and i feel like i would like to try again climbing mt. The funny thing is that i dont have any gadgets and we just borrowed tents and other stuffs for climbing with our guide/friend who's experienced in climbing and has the requirements. Sir i would like to ask where could be our next climb? Since it would be our second climb, can you give ur advice where we could climb? We have less gadgets but we could provide it through our friends lol. Since Pico is 600+ Masl, i would like to climb much higher but easier trail. Tnx sir gideon idol!

Mt. Batulao (811 MASL), Pico de Loro, and Mt. Maculot (830 MASL at the summit) are all very good starter climbs, and after that you can go ahead to more challenging ones such as Tarak Ridge and Mt. Pulag via Ambangeg. The Difficulty Scale:

classifies mountains according to difficulty; you may use it as a guide. of course, conditions vary depending on the weather and circumstances. more power to your group!

hi, pinoymountaineeer is not a group of mountaineers; it is a blog/website which i have created/maintained since 2007. however, i sometimes organize the ff:
1. open climbs - such as the pinoymountaineer annual charity climb held every february
2. special teams - such as the 9-man visayan voyage team that climbed 5 mtns in the visayas in april 2009.

at sa mga nakapag-apo na sana lang wag silang magmayabang na na-conquer na nila ang apo. tanong lang po? di kaba nag pa-porter ,ikaw ba mismo ang nagbuhat ng backpack mo na super bigat starting jump off... may mga group kc na sinasabi nila paka-pag apo na sila pero nag paporter naman...... hahahahahahahahahah astig kunwari....

My G2 climb ba ds holy week?..
Hi, we did an overnight camping with our kids ages 10 and 5 in mt pinatubo last weekend and we all enjoyed the experience immensely. I was just wondering if there's any interest out there to form tours that kids can join in (the ones i'm reading about look too serious). We had tour guides and porters with us, which made it a very pleasant experience for us. I'd love to hear from anyone who brings their kids to the mountains!

Hi Sir Gid! We're climbing Mt. Irid in Nov. Can you please post some details about Mt. Irid? Is it safe to climb this mountain, especially for a newbie like me? I've climb Pulag and Batulao but I think Irid will be really really challenging mainly because of the 11 river crossings.
