UPDATED: Mts. Apayang and Mt. Talamitam open after temporary closure

UPDATE (27-Oct-2015): We have received word that Mts. Apayang and Mt. Talamitam are now open again after more than a week of closure.

MANILA – We have received word from multiple sources that due to a very recent rebel-military encounter, Mt. Apayang in Nasugbu, Batangas is closed, while for Mt. Talamitam overnight hikes are not allowed, but dayhikes are permitted.

Local media reported the following details:

Five alleged New People’s Army (NPA) members were killed while two civilians were wounded when Philippine Air Force (PAF) men clashed with a group of insurgents in Barangay Mataas na Pulo, Nasugbu, Batangas, on Wednesday, Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) reported here.

We have no information at the moment when this closure and restriction will be lifted. Stay tuned.
